As said above, it is not only let it happen, but make it happen, due to nanothermite found on the site, and defense inaction. So, it is an inside job. The question, and my main point is, HOW inside, for whom inside. There could be a very limited number of people knowing all that really was to happen, and everybody knew something, right or false. For example, my point is, not even president might have known what really was to happen, even though he probably knew some parts of it. One thing is sure, how amazingly well they managed to fool the American people and the whole world.

We know with certainty that the official version of events is a pack of lies; what if America had to confront the fact that 9/11 really was an inside job? (The recent finding of nano-thermite in WTC dust is just one more compelling argument.) Such a finding would so undermine Americans’ core beliefs as to have profoundly unpredictable consequences. It would mean that no American is safe from its own terrorist government. It would mean that government is not only corrupt to its very foundations, but also that it is a force of malevolence toward its citizens. Google May Quit China! Google released a stunning blog post tonight that details a "sophisticated and targeted attack" on Gmail that "resulted in the theft of intellectual property from Google". Google notes that the attack was not just on Google infrastructure but also on more than twenty other companies from various industries. Google states that they are working with the authorities in the U.S. and will be notifying the companies of the breaches. The attack, Google says, appears to be aimed at "accessing the Gmail accounts of Chines human rights activists".
