Japan crisis puts 200,000 U.S. auto sales up for grabs because of parts shortages

Of the estimated 1.66 million units of lost production globally because of the Japan crisis, 341,000 would have been sold in the United States this year 2011.


The major Japanese automakers -- Toyota Motor Corp, Honda Motor Co Ltd and Nissan Motor Co Ltd -- are at risk for the biggest lost sales,
U.S. automakers General Motors Co, Ford Motor Co and Chrysler Group LLC as well as South Korea's Hyundai Motor Co stand to capture most of the consumers who defect from the Japanese brands
